Community Standards

Updated 2024

One of the strengths of this community is that we come together with different values, cultures, and backgrounds to find and share support as we work toward personal well-being. Please see below the Community Guidelines that we ask all participants to adhere to when sharing space during our meetings and on the WEconnect Discord.

Thank you for helping us create a supportive environment where all are welcome.

  • There is no obligation to share or to have your video or audio enabled. Feel free to listen in if that is the support you’re here for. Just listening can have great value on its own.
  • When offering support or feedback regarding another person's share, please ask permission and wait for a clear “yes” — either via the reaction tool or a thumbs-up. If you don’t get a response, please refrain from giving feedback. When offering feedback, focus on strengths and speak supportively without judgment.
  • Intentionally harmful language or behavior will not be tolerated and will result in immediate removal from the meeting. This includes (but is not limited to) any expressions of racism, sexism, transphobia, gender discrimination, classism, or other hostile or stigmatizing remarks.
  • Be mindful when sharing. Speak from your own experience and avoid expressing things in a graphic manner that could be activating for others. If discomfort arises, feel free to take care of yourself and step away if needed.
  • Commenting on anyone’s appearance is inappropriate, even if intended as a compliment.
  • Practice patience and tolerance. Everyone is in a different place in life. If you disagree with someone, do so respectfully.
  • Be aware of how much time you’re speaking to allow space for others to share.
  • Recognize that the meeting hosts are community members too, working to maintain a safe, supportive space for everyone.
  • Use emoji reactions supportively and considerately.
  • Do not give medical advice.
  • Turn off your video if you are smoking, vaping, eating, preparing food, or are shirtless. If your video is turned off for this reason, you may request to turn it back on once you’re finished.
  • Recording information or images during the meeting is strictly prohibited.
  • Specialty meetings are intended for members of the specific community they are designed to support. Please help us preserve these spaces for those who need them.
  • Observers are welcome in our general support groups. However, we ask that only members of the represented community attend Specialty meetings.
  • We are committed to keeping this space supportive and inclusive. If you have concerns or feedback, please speak to the co-host or email us at: support@wec.health
